Hopefully everyone realises the value of an attention grabbing headline, whether on an advertisement, direct mailer, or media release. The headline above is actually the title of a new book by Jim Wallis.
This headline is provocative, and makes me want to find out more.
That’s the message I tell people creating media releases, get them asking more and uttering those wonderful words, ‘can we do a story on you?’
Ideally a headline should have a number of elements in it.
Below are samples I have written that attracted widespread media attention. Some are long, some short, but they are aimed to make the reader think and take action.
